alyssa's 6th birthday party

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

My daughter, Alyssa, decided that she wanted Taylor Swift (her favorite singer) to be the theme for her 6th birthday party.

I used the album cover photo, titled 'RED', within the invitation design and on the thank you cards. I created coordinating water bottle labels and ordered red velvet cupcakes, which were a hit.

Thought it would be cool to create CDs with Alyssa's favorite songs for her to pass out to all of her classmates on her actual birthday since the party was on the Saturday prior. Alyssa's Party Mix ranges from 'When Can I See You Again' to 'Party In The U.S.A.', and of course 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' is on it.

Oh, and my husband and I bought tickets for the three of us to see Taylor in concert in May. Shhh, don't tell Alyssa. I cannot wait to share the surprise with her!

rhinestones, ribbon and wands...oh my!

Thursday, November 15, 2012

I've had several requests recently for "girly" invitations. I love creating unique ones that really match the guest of honor's personality or the theme of an event. Fun!

You can do so much with some rhinestones, bright colors, shimmery cardstock, ribbon and little wands. Plus, the thickness of ribbon can change up an invitation completely.

Congratulations, Tiffany...Rennah is beautiful and I can't wait to meet her! And Happy Birthday, Annabelle...one of the sweetest little girls I know!

happy halloween

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

I love this time of year. Festivals, candy, cooler weather, holidays, leaves changing, bonfires...what's not to love about autumn?

Tonight the kids and I created their Halloween classroom treats. Alyssa's was pretty simple, but she loved choosing each friend's gifts (pencils, erasers, sticker sheets, etc). I loved that she could address the tags...more personal and less work for me. I couldn't help myself but to make Drew's similar to what we had created for Alyssa's class last year since it was so easy. We painted mini clay pots to look like candy corn, filled them with fruit snacks and threw in a spider ring and tag. Then I wrapped them in clear bags and tied them with ribbon.

Feel free to use the tag below. Have a safe and happy Halloween!

i am a princess

Friday, October 19, 2012

Have you heard the new Disney commercial yet? If you have young kids, you may have. I love it.

I decided to create an 8x10" print of the inspirational words and hang it up in my daughter's room. I got the frame and custom mat from Michael's. The frame was 40% off and to my surprise the mat only took a couple of minutes to cut.

Want to print it, too? All you need to do is right click on your favorite one below. Enjoy!

thirty-one party

Saturday, September 22, 2012

Creating all of these invitations makes me want to throw a party! So, when my friend, Val, asked me to host a thirty-one party, I didn't hesitate to say "yes!". I decided to just roll with the colors of hot pink, light blue and black. I believe having unique invitations (I used this design) with solid color decor (got mine from Dollar Tree) and offering something cute to eat (I found Leslie's cookies through Etsy) is the only way to go. Happy planning!

wedding timeline card

Saturday, August 25, 2012

About a year ago, I decided that I wanted to create a colorful wedding timeline card. One that was cuter...one that had more personality than the standard list of events and their times. I wanted to turn a useful card into a useful and cute card.

My memory's horrible, but for some reason, I can remember the very night that I created my first timeline card. It was 2 am and I was propped up in bed. Late nights are common for me, but working at a comfortable place is not...9 times out of 10, I stand at my kitchen counter -- for hours. Anywoo, little did I know, that night was when my business would take a leap.

Before I knew it, the cards were a hit. You can find them on Pinterest, they've been posted in blogs, and I often receive emails asking about them. The Etsy listing has received over 21,000 views.

Not only is the timeline important to keep everyone in the loop about the events for the day (or weekend), but it can now be customized with colorful images that fit the couple's style and theme. With this fast paced world, there's no wonder that this has become a must-have for The Big Day.

bambi walk

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Ever heard of the Bambi Walk? If you don't live in Louisville, you may need me to fill you in...

A bar off Bardstown Road in Louisville, Kentucky opened in the mid 50's. Legend has it that deer-print wallpaper once covered the walls and the nickname Bambi Bar eventually stuck. But the most famous thing about the bar is the Bambi Walk, which is a drinking journey that started in the 80's. The walk starts at Bambi Bar, travels down Bardstown Road (a street lined with local watering holes), and ends at Phoenix Hill. The challenge is to have a drink at every stop along the way.

Now, I've been on a Bambi Walk (many years ago), but this is the first bachelorette party invitation I've created with a silhouette of Bambi on it. I have to say, I couldn't help but laugh when Jess asked me to put a tattoo on the cute little fawn...and of course, I had to add a heart.
